It’s great to know how well Our Man in Iraq (OMI) has stabilized Basra (on behalf of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi CouncilIranUnited Statesgreat nation of Iraq).

President Bush called OMI’s valiant decision to rid the southern port city of (rival) militias a “defining moment”. I guess by “defining moment” he meant “this is the moment that the Iraqi army will fight to a stalemate, despite arial support from US and British forces, sue for peace, and then send the British back in.”

The UK forces previously withdrew to the Basra Airport last September. I’m sure our British friends were thinking ‘we were so close!’
