“There’s only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He’s half African-American,” Nader said in what the newspaper described as a wide-ranging interview on Monday. “Whether that will make any difference, I don’t know. I haven’t heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What’s keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn’t want to appear like Jesse Jackson? We’ll see all that play out in the next few months and if he gets elected afterwards.”

Apparently, Nader believes that Barack Obama’s 50% blackness makes it incumbent upon the presidential nominee to focus on the “ghettos”. Despite having spoken out against predatory lending (including payday loans, etc.) it simply is not enough to befit his black half.
Sure, Obama didn’t grow up in a ghetto… he was raised in Hawaii by white parents and grandparents, and spent some time in Indonesia. But that was Obama’s white half. Meanwhile, Obama’s black half was growing up in the ghettos of Chicago, sipping on Schlitz, running with gangs and witnessing first hand the ravages of asbestos and lead upon his fellow black youth. Why is Obama hiding this half of his heritage?
…or maybe it’s just the case that Ralph Nader is a soggy douche.
